How to grow your own honey or try a soft Italian cousin (Western) honey? These bees are becoming popular resistance to the urbanite who wants honey and flowers and trees pollinate local.
Perhaps one way of helping our problems with bee pollination vanishing honey is starting to use the Italian honey bees in the premium Carniolans or Carnies, a subspecies) honey bee Apis.
- This bee does not seem concerned with Varroa mites and other diseases that are devastating the honey bee.
- It successfully defend insect pests and at the same time it
- Very smooth and not aggressive in their behavior toward beekeepers.
- Capable of working population to adapt to the availability of nectar quickly.
- The queen can reduce the production of farming, where the quantity of change of nectar. When nectar production is high, the queen will produce large numbers of bees and when it slows the production of worker bees from breeding.
- It can be kept in urban areas.
- Carnies are the organs most at home with a better sense of direction then the Italian bee.
- More disease resistant breeding.
- Early risers, which forage in the early morning, cool days, wet, stay off work late into the night.
- They stay in small groups lover of the winter season.
Of course, the bee is not perfect here's the downside Carniolans
- They do not like groups and they will load if their numbers become too great.
- They produce less wax than its cousin the honey bee.
- They do not like hot weather so much to bring to the desert.
These bees are raised on the roofs of across the country in the urban environment although technically it is against local bylaws. The Greening of America continues.
