
Mallorca has much to offer visitors, but the spectacular Cap de Formentor is one of the most prominent.
Situated on the eastern tip of Formentor in Mallorca, has spectacular views of the region and is known as the crossroads of the winds.
According to local legend, the winds have been named for centuries and this space, where the huge cliffs stand out at sea and housing hidden sandy coves, caves and bizarre rock formations mysticism is also the place where the winds are together.
The winds are called Tramuntana, Ponenet, Migjom and Llevantthe and its cousins are named Gregal, Llebetx, Xaloc, Mestral. They were seen as particularly important to the area because of its dependence on fishing and agriculture.
Visitors to the Cap de Formentor can experience the absolute power of the wind, standing at the tip of the peninsula and watching the waves breaking on the rocks 300 meters below.
One of the highlights of the area is the lighthouse, which dates from 1892.
Surrounded by rare and protected plants and the building of the protruding rocks along the cliff, the only way to reach the building is walking the path of ridge, which is also a good option to enjoy views of the area.
Cap de Formentor can be reached by two roads, which were designed by Italian engineer Antonio Paretti and built as two silk ribbons that weave through the cliffs.
