Emissions of greenhouse gases are known to be directly related to the warming greater understanding of the oceans of the earth and the air near the surface. But how recycling helps to cut down on emissions of greenhouse gases?

Recycling is used to refer to reprocessing of products previously made (such as plastic bottles) so that its key elements (in this case, the plastics that make plastic bottles) can be used to make new products later. It should be clarified that recycling is different from the reuse, since the latter simply means that the product manufactured previously (eg, a plastic bottle) will be used for other purposes beyond their original use (as when a plastic bottle cut in half and then becomes a container plant.)

When previously manufactured products are recycled, this helps reduce the amount of energy used to produce new products (compared to "virgin production" that the products manufactured from substances that were taken exclusively from the Earth environment, also known as commodities.) A substance that has been very damaging to the environment is plastic, because it is degraded and re-absorbed into the environment. There are also less waste goes into disposal systems such as landfills when recycling is put into play.

When products are recycled, there is less need to seek sources of virgin raw materials. For example, aluminum is a substance that can be recycled over and over again without a decline in the quality of the substance. When the plastic is recycled, up to 70% energy saving. If the paper is the substance that is recycled to 40% energy saving. When less energy is used to produce a product, which means fewer greenhouse gases are emitted into the atmosphere, which helps reduce the impact on the environment through the greenhouse effect.

Energy is also saved because there is less than the virgin or raw materials to be sought, there is less energy needed to transport these materials virgins from their original sources, and less energy is spent trying to clean up the environment as clean as aluminum and plastic packaging biodegradable are dumped into landfills.

Some criticize the recycling since there is still a level of energy required to transport recyclables to centers recycling and recycling, and the recycling process itself. However, the energy savings derived from recycling are considerable, and much less energy will be used to make new products from recyclables compared with using virgin materials to manufacture new products. Another criticism is that recycling can are more practical, because the cumulative costs for recycling a certain product may outweigh the environmental benefits of recycling.

Despite these criticisms, generally accepted nowadays that recycling does not help the environment by significantly reducing the demands of energy supply, so that emit less greenhouse gases, and may be a cost effective solution in certain cases.
