Advantages of wind power
There are many advantages of wind power in the traditional fossil fuels (and indeed other forms of renewable energy). Unfortunately, some of these benefits are difficult to see because of the drawbacks of wind power, but no system is perfect.
- Clean: Apart from the manufacturing process, wind power emits no greenhouse gases at all.
- Free: Ok, not in terms of money, but no fuel worries. While the wind blows, you get electricity. No worries about fuel supplies from other places to get it working.
- Liabilities: What I mean by this is that you do not need to operate wind turbines. Once you put them, apart from routine maintenance, they will work. This makes them ideal for …
- "Place", ability: Due to its nature, wind turbines can be placed in a variety of most inhospitable places. In fact, they are ideal for mountain / Exposed areas where regular power plants are not appropriate due to high winds.
- Decentralization: There is a plant of great power generates large amounts of electricity, but many small ones. This means there is less chance of a big failure and is also less susceptible to some interference. In fact, wind energy is ideal for micro-generation.
- National: Wind energy is provided for household applications, such as wind turbines can be almost any size. They can be installed on rooftops (though less efficient), or versions Small can be placed in the gardens at the back.
When there are advantages of wind power are not required to be disadvantages of energy wind! And here they are …
Disadvantages of wind energy
- Reliability: Wind power needs wind. This is obvious, but the wind is not always available! The turbines need a minimum wind speed to get the yarn, can operate only up to a maximum wind speed, after which they must be closed. Obviously it would be dangerous to have them in on hurricane winds! This range is quite large, though, so that electricity is generated much of the time.
- Expenses: The wind turbines are quite expensive, especially on what you need as many to match the output of a normal core. A modern wind turbine generates between 1 and 2 MW (1 MW = 1,000,000 watts), while a power plant generates something of the order of 1 GW (1,000,000,000 W). Therefore, it would take between 500 and 1000 to coincide with a power plant.
- National Security!: There was a recent discovery that wind power can even affect national security! Apparently, wind farms holes in radar coverage as the blades of the turbines to confuse the system. Apparently, they seem to airplanes. It is so bad that it causes a big shadow behind RADAR of them!
- Wildlife: There's arguments long ago that wind turbines affect migratory birds, but more recently has been discovered that can make bat lungs explode!
- Aesthetics: This is really down to personal taste, but should be included here because the farms have often been banned for exactly this reason.
