Be sure to use the heat from the sun during the opening day of the curtains on windows facing south and close them at night. Keep your attic and basement doors locked. Keep doors and vents in the rooms unused spare minutes.
3. Use the fireplace and make sure the damper is closed when not in use because the heat can escape through the fireplace. Make sure the seals around the damper and the home are tight. You can turn down the thermostat to promote the transfer of heat and open one or two inches a window.
