What should I buy my drinks in containers?
I see in stores in 3 containers of the same drink general, metal can, glass or plastic. What is the best in terms of total cost of ownership of the planet? How would you rate them? seems difficult to recycle plastic, and their deeds oil products. Glass is natural, it seems highly reusable. It would be my gut. Metals seem costly to reuse, and much of it are found in landfills. Glass bet. Are there any studies on what should be purchased at the local store? Thanks, Geoff http://www.travelschemer.com
Recycling Institute Container has a summary for this issue. Studies have established that reusable packaging is more environmentally responsible than a recyclable container. Glass is reusable, as you said, and one study showed that a refillable glass bottle filled only eight times less energy consumed than any other container, including recycled packaging.
