Which is better for the environment: recycling or just throw things out?
When it comes to anything besides aluminum. I saw some videos Penn and Teller's delay on YouTube about how recycling is inefficient, but they did a horrible job explaining it. And actually never said (between the two options to throw some garbage or recycling), which was better. What do you think? And give reasons to support your answer.
Recycling is not without adverse consequences. It takes energy to save energy, and as far as financial costs, which can be more expensive to recycle instead of creating new products. However, if not recycled, not too much else is going to landfills and degrading the environment, which is probably worse than the energy costs of recycling itself. The best alternative is actually to reduce overall consumption. Please use as many plastic soda bottles, for one, do not have to deal with the "recycle or not recycle" issue at all.
