wind power over solar power

wind power over solar power
Why can not we just switch to solar, hydro and wind altogether?

The technology exists, why we are not using? I am not an eco freak, but do not want my offspring grow up in a world where nature is on crack.

Perhaps "we" as a nation can not completely change because the infrastructure does not yet exist to support our massive need. But you and your family can certainly. Most communities in the U.S. now have a choice in their energy supplier (may not be able to choose who provides your energy, but still offer many suppliers). And many of the suppliers offer renewable energy programs. You can choose to buy part of its energy from renewable sources, or all. When choosing a new supplier of environment not only are telling the energy companies that people are interested in renewable energy, but uses his money to help maintain and expand this infrastructure. The more people choose this option, the most accessible and economically viable to develop. Then tell your neighbors to do the same! For information on green energy providers in your area, contact your power company (but do not be surprised if they are not useful, and not be discouraged if you say it is available to you – which is often in reality). An even better remedy is www.green-e.org. They can tell you what green power options are available in your area.
